Rehab and Early intervEntion

Initial Needs Assessment (INA/ IAx)

An initial needs assessment is our most conducted assessment, completed for both clients under the workers’ compensation scheme, life insurance members and those under the Compulsory third party (CTP) insurance scheme. This assessment assists with identifying a client’s needs, concerns, interests, values, beliefs, perceptions and goals to achieve pre-injury function. This assessment sets the tone to establish rehabilitation goals, to retain function to participate in activities that are meaningful and purposeful to each individual client.

Ideally an initial needs assessment will not only involve liaising with the injured client but will also involve liaising with the client’s pre-injury employer through a workplace assessment and their treatment providers through medical case conferences.

Workplace Assessment (WPAx)

A holistic assessment conducted to obtain an analysis of the client’s pre-injury tasks, reviewing work, health and safety concerns, as well as, cognitive, perceptual, physical, environmental and social demands of their role. A review of the client’s current functional capacity versus availability and suitability of modified or suitable duties for the client to engage in as they commence a gradual return to work is conducted under this assessment.

Early Intervention (EI)

Rehab Consultants perform EI by quickly assessing and addressing a workplace injury or illness to facilitate faster recovery and return to work. The goal of early intervention is to help the injured worker return to their job as soon as it's safe to do so, reducing the risk of chronic injuries, increase the chances of a quick and safe return to work, and reduce overall workers' compensation costs.

Medical case conferencing (MCC)

Meetings with the client’s treatment providers to discuss and review the individual’s reported symptomatology so as to determine treatment interventions and ascertain their capacity for work or general functional capacity to engage in pre-injury activities or modified tasks.

Return to work planning (RTWP/ SDP/ RAWP)

Rehab Consultants would then draft, discuss and amend a Suitable Duties Plan (Return to Work Plan) following consultations with the client, their treatment providers and their employers to determine if they are recovering in line with anticipated time frames for the diagnosed injuries. The Suitable Duties Plan or Return to work plan or Recover at work plan is to outline gradual return to work stages, medical/ functional restrictions and workplace considerations to ensure a durable return to pre-injury duties.

Safety and single services

Ergonomic Workstation Assessments (WPA/ Ergo Ax)

Rehab Consultants conduct ergonomic assessment to recommend functional set-up of client’s workstations, optimizing posture, evaluating stressors to various body structures at the workstation and evaluating risk of musculoskeletal injury utilizing a holistic approach. An Ergonomic assessment report provides recommendations and advice pertaining to medical interventions, workplace adjustments/ modifications and equipments as required.

Functional Capacity Evaluation

Rehab consultants conduct Functional capacity evaluation to assess an individual’s functional capacity so as to provide recommendations pertaining to medical interventions, work capabilities and/ or functional capacity to complete Vocational Rehabilitation.

Job Task Analysis (JTA)

Rehab Consultants conduct JTA to identify and evaluate the specific tasks and responsibilities required for a particular job or role within an organization. It involves breaking down each job into its component tasks, understanding the physical, cognitive, and emotional demands of the role, and evaluating the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to perform each task effectively. This process is often used to help design job descriptions, improve workplace safety, and develop training programs

Vocational Rehabilitation Assessments

Rehab Consultants provides specialized assistance to clients who are unable to return to their previous employment due to injury or disability, or those seeking new vocational paths. Our Vocational Assessments thoroughly examine an individual's transferable skills, experience, and qualifications to identify suitable job opportunities that comply with any medical limitations.

Rehab Consultants can also conduct a Labour Market Analysis (LMA) in conjunction with Vocational Assessments, evaluating factors such as location, job demand, income potential, and market trends to determine the most viable job options. This process ensures that individuals receive practical and realistic career transition advice.

We also conduct Transferable Skills Assessments (TSA) independently to examine skills that can be utilized in new roles. This service is particularly advantageous for internal department transfers or for considering new vocational prospects.

Rehab Consultants conduct job-seeking services and vocational counselling services to complement our Vocational Assessments, facilitating a personalized approach to career development.

Activities of Daily Living Assessments (ADL)

This assessment is an objective, holistic and comprehensive assessment, assessing an individual’s functional participation in activities of daily living. Activities of daily living range from self care tasks such as dressing, bathing/ showering, toileting, eating, mobility or grooming; to domestic activities such as vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, cooking, laundry tasks, pet care, shopping or gardening.

The assessment report provides recommendations or advice on modifications to how the activities are completed by the individual, or adjustments to the task itself, or modifications to the individual’s home or provision of equipment/ services to simplify the activities of daily living.
